Orlando Companion Care

Sharon Heaney

For over 25 years I have been an RN.  I chose that career because I have a passion for people and helping to make their lives a little better.  During this time I’ve developed and honed my skills so as to provide excellent care to all my patients and to be a good care manager.
“In more recent years I have seen that my older patients and their families need to keep their loved ones in a safe, comfortable home environment for as long as possible.
“Even the most loving families seldom have the time necessary to provide their loved ones with all the care they need.  Sure they take care of the doctor visits and getting the meds filled, but there are many other things needed.  Sometimes, it just the mundane daily tasks that the loved ones can no longer effectively do for themselves.  In this situation the family is often forced to use private caregivers, thus inviting “strangers” into their home.
“I have seen this scenario play out many times, sometimes successfully, sometimes not.  Success comes when the right caregiver is paired with the patient and family.
“As a nursing manager and supervisor I learned early on that the most successful outcomes are those that match the right person to the right task.  That is critical in the home health care field.  My dream was to consistently put the right caregivers with the right patient and family to form a partnership that would provide necessary care and support consistently on a collaborative basis.  That was the beginning of Orlando Companion Care.
“At Orlando Companion Care all of our caregivers are thoroughly screened, professionally and personally.  We then ensure they are the kind of people who understand our mission and commitment to you.  I take a very personal interest in our staff to make sure they are properly trained and motivated to provide the kind of care I would want for my own family.  Because I understand the importance of family, my goal is to create a work environment in which my caregivers feel like a family, working together with your families to provide your loved one with a better quality of life.
“My role is to make that happen by bringing together caring, warm, helpful individuals with families who need that loving caring touch. This is my personal goal and my pledge to you and your loved one.”
